UK Casinos On The Rise

The world famous research and statistics company that is based in London, Screen Digest, has just concluded a January 2008 report on the status and possible development of the gambling industry for online UK casinos. According to the recently revealed stats, the online gambling industry of the UK can be expected to grow significantly due to two major factors. The first is an increase in online gamblers to UK casinos, which has increased from 1.1 million to 2.1 million active gamblers in only a two year period. The second factor from which the expectation was drawn is the increase in the current annual spending amount, which has also boomed. Their research shows that by 2010, the current annual spending amount will rise from GBP 600 million to GBP 1.6 billion.

In addition, the report shows that the player growth at online UK casinos between 2000 and 2008 constituted mainly ‘hard core’ gamblers. Screen Digest is stating that based on the numbers, the next stage of industry growth will consist of leisure gamblers wanting to join in on the latest ‘craze’, so to speak. Accompanied by programs and software that is more user friendly than ever, this trend has already technically begun in 2006. The report even shows that online gambling products for UK casinos are currently competing with much larger forms of mass entertainment for increased consumer attention and profits. With the recent restrictions imposed on land based UK casinos, such as the non smoking legislation and shorter operating hours, this might not even be as competitive as expected.
