New Online Casino Survey To Be Released

Every now and then we hear that a new “gambling study” is being conducted somewhere, and this month is no different. A "Gambling Prevalence" study, requested almost 2 years ago by the UK Gambling Commission and conducted by the National Centre for Social Research in collaboration with Birmingham University academics, will be released in the next couple of weeks. The survey will focus primarily on addiction problems that online casino players may be suffering, an issue that’s becoming more and more popular in the last months.

According to The Telegraph newspaper, the results may not be so good, as the research "...has found a massive increase in 'problem gambling' in just eight years”. The newspaper, which supposedly got an early look into the survey, added that according to the survey, the number of gambling addicts in the UK has more than doubled in the last years, something that should definitely worry many people at the offline and online casino industry. The previous study, which was conducted in 1999 by the Gambling Board, came out to the conclusion that 0.6 to 0.8 percent of the adult British population was addicted to gambling, while this study estimates that the numbers are up to almost 2 percent

As you may all know, gambling addiction is one of the industry’s biggest enemies, as it pictures the online casino sites as places where only addicts come to play at. Those sites, along with other online gambling companies, are doing everything they can in order to abolish this phenomenon and make the gambling world a much safer place to be.
