Online Gambling Group Joins Anti-Fraud Community

Online fraud is one of the things that frighten online casino companies the most and probably for a good reason. According to figures from the FBI, U.S. companies' losses due to Internet fraud in 2003 surpassed US$500 million, and that was 4 years ago, while analysts and specialists of the field think that the situation now is far worse. As online gambling companies are among those suffering from the consequences, they are trying to do everything they can in order to protect themselves. For example, the giant online gambling group 888.com has recently joined the anti-fraud group Ethoca Limited, as a part of its new protection plan against online fraud.

Established in 2005, Ethoca enables its clients to make more informed decisions about their customer transactions in a way that is more efficient and effective, by tracking information between companies and processing remote transactions. "As fraud and other unwanted activity grow in size and sophistication, businesses need to stay ahead of the curve, which is exactly what we’re offering” said Andre Edelbrock, Ethoca’s CEO. By crosschecking information from several sources, including rival companies, Ethoca is able to protect their customers from potential frauds

“This Ethoca membership will allow us to better protect ourselves and our customers from possible online-fraud” says 888’s CEO, Gigy Levi. While no system is impassable, using a company like Ethoca could surely raise the security standard all around the online casino industry. Hopefully, more companies will follow, making the online gambling world a much safer place for both the customers and the operators alike.
