World Series of Backgammon Details – 3rd Round Information

The 3rd round of events for the World Series of Backgammon tournament (WSOB) will kick off this week at Cannes' own Palm Beach Casino. As part of the festivities, a new website for online Backgammon play will be revealed via the tournament website, WorldSeriesOfBackgammon.com. this round of Backgammon play is scheduled to last a total of 6 days and include players from all corners of the globe. Winners will then continue on to the next event to be held in Prague in September (16 – 20), and then again for the next one in London during October (20 – 26). The Grand Finale to the tournament will be held at the British Canon Poker Club, and will feature a major prize worth no less than €320,000

The WSOB was first initiated by Andy Bell, the today Managing Director of On A Roll Limited, the company licensing the event. Bell established the tournament 3 years ago, and was he who revealed that the online platform of the now widely respected brand would go live by the end of the week. The new site will serve as the home for Backgammon players all around the world, and will offer both regular and exclusive tournaments and events, as well as possibly also being televised via either the Eurosport or ESPN channels. Bell will be the first to admit how far the brand has come since its relatively recent beginnings.

In order to win events, players will need to accumulate points throughout the tournament by winning matches, after which there will be an overall ranking of the players. Those with enough points will be invited to advance to the next round.
