Detroit Casino Market Still Predicted to be American Gambling Hot-Spot

Despite the recent bankruptcy filing made by Greektown Casino, industry experts in the US are still enthusiastic that the Detroit gambling market will continue to successfully support the remaining 3 casino facilities; Casino Windsor, Motor City Casino and the MGM Grand Detroit.

According to the Senior Vice President of an independent research group called Spectrum Gaming Group LLC, Joseph Weinert, Detroit is a very attractive market, and Greektown Casino can be expected to be back on its feet soon despite its recent downfall. Similarly, Jake Miklojcik of Michigan Consultants of Lansing, has predicted that the casino market of Detroit will expand by an additional 25% within the next several years. He added that Greektown still has strong underlying assets.

Weinert agreed with Miklokcik, explicating that it is not uncommon for casino facilities to file for bankruptcy due to the immensely high costs required to run such as place. As such, the business operations of Greektown are fine in his eyes. And industry figures show that the experts are right, as Detroit generated an additional $1 billion in gambling revenues from its 4 casino businesses since 2025, which gave the state an additional $160 million in tax revenues.

Detroit is now ranked as the 5th largest casino market in the United States, following short after Atlantic City, Chicago, Connecticut, and Las Vegas – according to findings by the American Gaming Association. As Miklojcik concluded, a casino is "a business like any other."
