In order to be a dominant player at the online gambling industry you must expand and "conquer" new lands constantly. Playtech, one of the leading online casino software providers, is doing exactly that lately, as it began expanding through Asia and Europe, two of the biggest markets in the world. According to the Reuters news agency, they might be doing even more than that, as a Playtech executive expressed lately the company's desire of buying up some of its European rivals. The move, if it will indeed take place, will definitely shake the whole industry, as it will greatly increase the company's dominance.
"We think that this is the right time to prepare the company to be almost the only alternative out there" said Avigur Zmora, Playtech's Vice Chairman, to Reuters. While no further details have been revealed yet, the company's main rivals in Europe are the Swedish Boss Media and Net Entertainment, Cryptologic and Microgaming. "I don't think there will be a financial problem as our competitors are relatively small in market value right now" added Zmora, which certainly sounds pretty confident
In other news, although still regarding the giant online casino software provider, Zmora revealed that the company is looking to add sports betting software to its current products. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, as sports betting is definitely becoming one of the hottest trends at the online gambling industry and Playtech doesn't want to stay behind. As you can see, the European online casino industry might be heading into a new era, where one software provider dominates it all.
