Just as the online gambling industry keeps developing and expanding, so are the possibilities for new potential markets. Without a doubt, Asia is considered right now the "hottest" online casino market and companies are already trying to take advantage of the new situation. The online casino software provider Crytpologic, for example, is planning a possible expansion into new Asian countries, with Singapore coming first into the mind. According to the company's new CEO, Javaid Aziz, this tiny country could serve as a model for other Asia Pacific online gambling markets.
If the plan goes well, we will soon be seeing new Cryptologic-powered casinos all around Singapore, while there's even a possibility that the expansion plan will include a combination of land-based and online casinos. In fact, the Canada-based software company has already hired Yap Wai Ming, a respected Asian lawyer, and ex-Cisco manager Shailesh Naik in order to head up the Singapore office.
According to Aziz, his company will try at first to introduce more casual games, such as online pool, and only later will start offering the more traditional online casino games. Besides the establishment of a new market, Crytpologic sees in Singapore a possible regional base which will enable the company to explore other possible markets, such as China, Korea, Thailand and India. One of the main obstacles that Aziz and Cryptologic will have to overcome if they want to succeed is the obvious cultural gap. Nevertheless, both of them surely hope that this step is just the first of many at this new exciting market.
