Women Are Taking Over The Online Gambling World

It may be a bit exaggerated to call it the "feminist revolution", but something pretty similar is happening at the online gambling world. More and more women are joining online casinos each day, and analysts predict that the trend is just starting. Unlike 5 years ago, when the chances of finding a woman playing at an online casino were not so good, nowadays we can safely say that women make up for more than %50 of the online gambling community. The reasons for this sudden rise are numerous, but there are some that are pretty easy to identify. Unlike gambling at "brick and mortar" casinos in Las Vegas, online gambling is totally anonymous and discreet, which is something that women really appreciate. According to Barret Duke, a board member of the National Coalition against Legalized Gambling, women gamble to escape from the hard day's realities, while men tend to do it for the challenge. "It's exciting because it's fun and because it takes you out of everything else -loneliness, depression, self-pity" says Elizabeth Cady, a retired government worker.

Other reasons may be explained by the overall rise of involvement that women are showing when it comes to computers and the Internet. Broadband connections have made the net a much more fun place to be and exposed it to millions of people who never tried to it before – many women among them. The online casino industry was without a doubt one of the main industries benefiting from this change, and women were the main responsible for that.
