A responsible gambling code of conduct should be as important as anything else at the online casino industry. After all, if every player or operator would do his things the way he thinks, we would all be in a big chaos. That's exactly why GamCare, eCOGRA and the Remote Gambling Association (RGA) have presented last week in Barcelona a new code of conduct for the online gambling business, which includes a set of standards that should be used throughout the industry in order to protect the players
Among other things, the new code, which is based the RGA's social responsibility code, deals with underage gambling, player protection measures, customer communication, advertising and promotions, and even staff training. According to the parties involved, it took several months to compose this code of conduct, which was revealed at the European Interactive Gaming Congress and Expo (EiG) in Barcelona, in front of all the online casino industry leaders.
"GamCare hopes that the adoption of this code will better enable the gambling public to make informed decisions with regards to their remote gambling participation" said Andrew Poole, Managing Director, GamCare at the convention, while Andrew Beveridge,CEO of eCOGRA added ""eCOGRA certified sites have been required to comply with similar standards for the past few years so we know that they are effective". The three companies involved can already be satisfied with the primary results, as the European jurisdiction participating in the Congress were largely supportive of this new online gambling code. Now, all there is to hope for is that the online casino sites themselves will show at least the same cooperation.
